New Hope for Alzheimer’s: LEQEMBI Infusions Now Available at Our Clinic

What if slowing down Alzheimer’s disease was no longer wishful thinking but a real, achievable step forward? With the arrival of LEQEMBI, patients and families facing early Alzheimer’s now have a reason to hope. And at IDYLLIC Infusion Treatment Center, we’re proud to make this powerful treatment accessible to our community.

We know how devastating Alzheimer’s can be, not just for patients, but for their families and caregivers, too. That’s why we’re committed to delivering the most advanced infusion therapies in a compassionate, comfortable setting. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s, we’re here to walk you through everything you need to know about LEQEMBI and how to get started with treatment at IDYLLIC.

What Is LEQEMBI (Lecanemab)?

LEQEMBI is an FDA-approved monoclonal antibody therapy for patients with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.1 It is designed to target and remove beta-amyloid plaques in the brain, which are believed to be one of the main contributors to the cognitive decline seen in Alzheimer’s.2,3 LEQEMBI is administered via intravenous infusion every two weeks and is part of a class of treatments aimed at slowing disease progression.4

Developed by Eisai and Biogen, LEQEMBI was granted traditional approval by the FDA after promising results from a global clinical trial (CLARITY AD), which showed a significant slowing of cognitive and functional decline in patients with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease.5

How LEQEMBI Works: Slowing Alzheimer’s Progression

LEQEMBI works by targeting beta-amyloid proteins in the brain before they form into plaque and by removing existing amyloid plaque.6 Over time, these protein clumps, often considered hallmarks of Alzheimer’s, accumulate and damage neurons, leading to the symptoms we associate with the disease: memory loss, confusion, and difficulty with daily tasks.

By actively reducing amyloid buildup, LEQEMBI helps preserve brain function and delay symptom progression. It’s not a cure, but it offers meaningful improvement in maintaining independence, decision-making, and quality of life for those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s.

Who Is Eligible for LEQEMBI Treatment?

LEQEMBI is designed for people in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, specifically those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or mild dementia.7

To see if LEQEMBI is the right Alzheimer’s infusion, your neurologist will first confirm that symptoms are related to Alzheimer’s with memory and thinking tests like the MoCA or MMSE. Then, they’ll check for the presence of amyloid plaques in the brain using a PET scan or a spinal fluid test. Your doctor will also rule out other possible causes of memory issues, like vitamin deficiencies or past head injuries. An MRI is done to make sure your brain is healthy enough for treatment and to look for any small bleeds or signs that could increase your risk of side effects.

Some people may also be tested for a gene called ApoE ε4, which can increase the chances of a specific side effect called ARIA (a temporary swelling or bleeding in the brain). Even if genetic testing isn’t done, you can still get treatment if your doctor feels it’s appropriate. If all signs point to LEQEMBI being a good option, your care team will walk you through the next steps and what to expect with treatment.

Benefits vs. Risks of Leqembi

Like any Alzheimer’s infusion treatment, LEQEMBI comes with both potential benefits and important risks to consider.

LEQEMBI Benefits:

  • Slows Cognitive and Functional Decline: Clinical trials showed a statistically significant slowing of symptom progression over 18 months.5
  • Improves Quality of Life: Patients may maintain independence longer, preserving abilities like managing finances, preparing meals, or recognizing loved ones.
  • Targets Disease Mechanism: Unlike older treatments that only manage symptoms, LEQEMBI modifies the underlying disease process.2

LEQEMBI Risks:

  • Amyloid-Related Imaging Abnormalities (ARIA): These include swelling or bleeding in the brain, often detected on routine MRIs and usually asymptomatic. However, close monitoring is required.8
  • Headache, Infusion-Related Reactions, or Confusion: Some patients may experience temporary side effects following treatment.8
  • Ongoing Testing and Monitoring Required:  LEQEMBI is not a one-time treatment like Kisunla™. Regular infusions and scans are essential.4

What to Expect: The Infusion Experience

Starting LEQEMB Iinfusions can feel overwhelming at first, but at IDYLLIC Infusion Treatment Center, we make the experience as smooth and supportive as possible. Each infusion takes about one hour and is administered every two weeks.4 Before your first appointment, you’ll receive a comprehensive care plan and have the chance to ask any questions about the process.

When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a calming, professional environment designed to make your visit comfortable. Our nursing team will monitor you closely throughout the infusion, checking your vitals and watching for any reactions. Afterward, you can typically return to your normal activities the same day. Most patients experience little to no side effects — but if anything unusual arises, our staff is ready to respond.
